Westminster Small Carols

Thursday, 7th December 2017, 6.30 pm
St Margaret's Church, Westminster
Dress: Smart
Tickets: No charge, optional donation to the Bursary Fund

By kind permission of the Dean and Chapter of Westminster, we will be holding 'Westminster Small Carols', a service of lessons and carols, on Thursday, 7th December which will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies up School. The Choir of Westminster School will be singing on this very special occasion with lessons read by OWW and Friends of Westminster School.

We very much hope you will be able to join us.

Standing as it does between Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, and commonly called "the parish church of the House of Commons", St Margaret's has witnessed many important events in the life of this country. This remains true in our own day but now, more than ever, St Margaret's welcomes many visitors from all over the world. Notable features include the east window of 1509 of Flemish stained glass, created to commemorate the betrothal of Catherine of Aragon to Henry VIII. Other windows commemorate William Caxton, Britain's first printer, who was buried at the church in 1491, Sir Walter Raleigh, executed in Old Palace Yard and then also buried in the church in 1618, the poet John Milton, a parishioner of the church, and Admiral Robert Blake.
